Steve Smith is the founder of Ka’ana Solutions, a non-profit education-focused technology services company that empowers the innovative usage of technology in schools while providing internships for students to learn about IT services and entrepreneurship. Previously he led the Technical Services organization for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and prior to that was Executive Director of Technology at Gilbert Public Schools. He has also worked in the classroom as a middle-school science teacher, where he started an after school digital media club, directed a regional robotics competition, and was honored as outstanding first-year teacher. He began his career with Andersen Consulting, as a systems engineer serving customers in the retail, manufacturing and financial services industries. Steve graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, and from Purdue University with a Masters degree in Learning Design and Technology.
